The Reviews Are In–the 2016 Hyundai Elantra is a Winner!

September 3rd, 2015 by

At AutoMax Hyundai of Norman, we love the 2016 Hyundai Elantra for its zippy engine, great features, and cool style. But we’re hardly objective! So before you buy the Elantra, see what the Internet’s most respected car critics have to say about it.

Edmunds Loves the Features

Edmunds.com: “Judged purely on its value proposition, the Elantra has hardly aged a day. Hyundai always seems to throw in more features than you’d expect, and that trend continues for 2016 with the attractively priced Value Edition. Stuffed with desirable add-ons like alloy wheels, a sunroof and keyless entry and ignition, this new trim level may make you question the point of the pricier Limited and Sport. But those trims come with even more accoutrements should you want them, and the Limited and Sport are priced lower than the premium versions of many competitors.”

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra has plenty of great features that you’ll love on a long car ride or just when running errands. The SE base level has goodies like satellite radio and full power accessories. You can also purchase a Popular Equipment package that includes features like the 16-inch alloy wheels and steering-wheel mounted audio controls, as well as voice controls and a rearview camera. The Value edition adds the sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, and heated front seats, while the Limited trim level adds larger wheels and heated rear seats, plus the option for a navigation system. The Sport trim level adds a sport-tuned suspension and steering system.

Kelley Blue Book Loves the Style

Kelley Blue Book: “If you’re in the market for a compact car that will delight both your sense of style and practicality, check out the 2016 Hyundai Elantra. The sedan looks like a high-priced midsize, while the sporty 5-door GT offers improved versatility without sacrificing efficiency or comfort.”

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra is stylish and sophisticated, with a new front treatment that features LED flourishes around the headlamps. The chassis features a tantalizing series of curves that come together to swoop to the rear, with the boomerang-shaped cuts in the door leading the eye forward. The exterior is energetic and dynamic, while the interior is comfortable and spacious.

The Car Connection Loves the Power

The Car Connection: “Base Elantras are lean and efficient, with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine standard. Rated at 148 horsepower and 131 pound-feet of torque, this powertrain is fairly smooth and accelerates respectably through a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual.”

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra’s 1.8L 4-cylinder engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission that gets 37 mpg highway, or a six-speed automatic transmission that gets 38 mpg highway–an impressive efficiency, and plenty of room for highway passing and merging maneuvers. When you upgrade to the Elantra Sport, you’ll get a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces 172 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque, getting 35 mpg highway with the automatic transmission and 34 mpg highway with the manual transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 8.2 seconds, which is a particularly quick time for a compact sedan.
